Artist Statement- Portraits.
My theme for these portraits revolves around family. I chose to photograph members of my family because they are all very special to me. The group portrait is a photo of my siblings and I. It shows the closeness we share with each other and that we enjoy each others company. For the family member I photographed my younger sister. I chose the lake as a background because it seemed to be a peaceful yet happy scene to go with her, since that is how her personality is. I photographed her smiling, because she is always a happy person. I took a photo of my friend's dog Chester, for the pet photograph. Our family does not currently have a pet, but we used to have a dog. Because of this, I felt like a dog would be fitting for my theme. For my self portrait I took a photograph of myself blowing a bubble, and put a picture of myself inside the bubble to give the impression that I was "trapped" inside. There is no symbolic meaning to this photo, I just wanted to put a different twist on my self portrait.
